Services
The Equipment Evaluation Service provides a number of equipment related services to clinicians and consumers within British Columbia. These services include:

Fees
There is no fee for service to clinicians and consumers. Product testing requires a contract be drawn up between the vendor and the Equipment Evaluation Service.

Hours of Operation
Typically the Equipment Specialist is available between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. These times vary based upon project requirements.

Donations
The Equipment Evaluation Service processes gift in kind donations made to GF Strong Rehab Centre. Through the VGH + UBC Hospitals Foundation we are able to issue tax receipts for items such as wheelchairs, ventilators, lifting devices etc. If you have any old health devices lying around please give us a call at 604.737.6410. We will see that the equipment finds a good home and you don't give quite so much to the tax man.

Solutions: A Student Design Exposition
The Equipment Evaluation Service is involved in the organization of a post secondary student design initiative encouraging students to consider the health technology field as a possible vocation. The students work is show-cased in April. A fringe benefit to this initiative is that the students frequently solve problems for individual consumers.

Equipment Replacement
Whether you used the resources at GF Strong to order your initial equipment there will come a time when new or replacement equipment is needed.

The following is a guideline summarizing the steps that should be considered when selecting and acquiring health technology:

Equipment Studies
The Equipment Evaluation Service performs evaluative studies covering a broad range of subjects. The only common thread is that the studies offer insight which has clinical relevance.
